Abstract
The article reviews current policies relating to youth and to environmental and sustainability challenges especially within the European Union and it relates them to transformative learning issues and to the widening sphere of citizenship‟s rights including the rights to safe and clean environment and sustainable development. the focus of the article is on the types of agency that are relevant to the present and futures environmental and socio-economical scenarios and their relations with the human ability to unlearn established routines and to develop a critical view of dominant epistemologies to make change possible.
